A cultural itinerary of 10.000 years.
Over 10,000 years, this Andean valley has been the scene of much of the cultural developments of the region and neighboring countries in South America, in a continuous journey that ranges from the installation of the first hunter, a millennia ago, until today. In this regard, La Quebrada de Humahuaca ( Humahuaca Gulch) has worked as a permanent means of interaction, longitudinal and cross-linking distant lands and different cultures from the Atlantic to the Pacific and from the Andes to the southern plains. The Gulch, as a real system, constitutes a cultural itinerary of extensive history that has significantly influenced the development and cultural settings of its own space, giving rise to rich syncretism in its character which reflects itself in all the elements of is heritage tangible and intangible. These factors give this context, a strong meaning for a plural reading of history and world culture In the year 2003 La Quebrada de Humahuaca was declared World Heritage by UNESCO, in the category: Cultural Landscape
